Echelbarger Phantoms 2010

Pacific Little League Minors Baseball Club

Philosophy, Objectives & Team Rules

  1. Have FUN!
  2. Teach baseball fundamentals & teamwork
    • Minors – A Development Division in Little League
      • Everyone will get to play all positions in the regular season – infield & outfield
      • Everyone will get to pitch in a couple games with the exception of players who are league age 12.
  3. Good sportsmanship
  4. Provide a safe, healthy and positive environment for the kids
  5. Our success will be measured by the above & by our improvement, not by wins & losses.

Expected Behavior:

Parents:

  1. “Positive encouragement is good: negative comments are bad.”
  2. “Cheering is good, but do not yell at your child or anyone else’s child during the game. It can be distracting & what you tell them may be different from what the coaches are saying. If you would like to be an assistant coach, please let coach Bill know and would love your help.”
  3. “Be a good role model & a good sport.”
  4. “Do not yell at the Umpires or say anything bad to or about the other team. Never boo the other team or cheer when they make a mistake.”
  5. Protests of minors games are not permitted

Players:

  • Behavior Rules
  1. Everyone must follow all directions given by the manager and assistant coaches
  2. Everyone must hustle & do their best
  3. Cheer on your teammates!
  4. “When I talk you must be still, quiet & listen”
  5. I expect everyone to be a good sport whether we win or lose
  6. “No cursing or name calling” directed players on the other team or our own players
  7. Disruptive or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated.
  • Safety Rules
  1. Keep your hands to yourself. No pushing, shoving or throwing of bats.
  2. Dangerous behavior will not be tolerated
  3. No On-Deck Batting Practice Swings (batters may take practice swings while they are close to the batter’s box while the opposing pitcher is warming up between innings.)
  4. All male players are required to wear an athletic supporter and protective cup at games and practices.
  5. Batters & bat boys must wear a baseball helmet on the field
  6. No steel cleats

Volunteers:

  • Parent volunteers are needed and encouraged. The coaching staff can’t do it alone. We have been blessed in past seasons to have several parents help out our teams. Here are some ways you can help out!
    • Coaching – The coaches can’t make it all practices and games due to work & other commitments.
      • There will be opportunities for Dads and/or Moms to step in and coach a base or help out the umpires with officiating the field boundaries.
      • It is especially helpful for the players’ development when we can break down practices into one-on-ones or small groups. Not every team member is at the same level and may need help.
    • Other areas include field maintenance, score book, pitch counts, running the score board, announcing the games, concession stand, auction basket and more.
  • Please let coach Bill know if you would like to help in any way. We need all the help we can get!

Practice:

  • Attendance: Please attend. We can’t play well as a team unless we practice as a team. Those who attend practice the most may play the most, although everyone who attends a game will play at least 50% of the game.

Sundays 3:00-4:30pm

Wednesdays 4:30-6:00pm

Games:

  • We ask that our players arrive 30 minutes before the game starts. This is an important time for the kids and coaches. Coaches will go over last minute strategies, areas to work on and line ups. This time is also used to warm up the players to prevent injuries.
  • Please let me know in advance if your player can’t make it to a game. This helps us manage the game roster and snack schedule.

Rain Policy:

  • Game cancellations – If the game hasn’t been called in advance, parents are to show up at the game field and both team managers will notify the parents of a game rain out.
  • Practice cancellations – Practice will still be held on light drizzly days, but we will also reserve the right to cancel or re-schedule a practice due to heavy rain, wind or dangerous weather related conditions. Please note – We will send try to an email and/or call at least 1 hour prior to practice start time for any cancellations of practices.
